Redefining Wealth: “The Voice” Star’s New Country Single Celebrates Love & Family (Clear, direct, and highlights key themes)

Gracee Shriver doesn’t just sing country music; she embodies every lyric. Audiences first met the Oklahoma singer-songwriter on Season 17 of The Voice, and since then, she’s carved out a unique space in country music, blending raw emotion with southern soul.

Her new single, “Rich,” released today, is a heartfelt reminder that love, family, and resilience are worth more than any sum of money. Inspired by her own parents—young dreamers rich in love, if not in wealth—Gracee vividly paints a picture of what true richness means. With a voice that’s both warm and powerful, she invites listeners into a deeply personal, yet universally relatable, story.

In this interview, Gracee shares insights into the creation of “Rich,” the emotional truth woven into its lyrics, and why authentic storytelling will always be at the core of her music.

If you could describe your sound in three words, what would they be and why?

Grit, Story-telling, Electric… I know it sounds crazy, but I love the mystery of mixing the edgy wardrobe with a fun stage experience. The rasp in my voice is something that stands out. If you came to my concert, you would see Rhinestone boots and hear a rock and roll guitar sound!!

Who influenced you, and why did you choose to make music?

Growing up I was hooked on the radio. Dolly, Miranda, Stevie Nicks, Miley Cyrus, and Tanya Tucker were my biggest influences. My grandpa played guitar, and we would play family rounds together when I went to their house. It just stuck!

“Rich” is such a powerful and emotional track. What inspired you to write it, and is it based on your own family’s story?

Yes! It was inspired by my parents’ relationship. They got married at 22, without a dollar to their name. They made it on pure love. There was a time when all they could afford to eat was liver! My fiancé and I just got married, and we are 22! It was a full circle moment and such a cool story that several couples can relate to.

The message behind “Rich” really challenges the idea that money equals happiness. What do you hope listeners take away from this song?

There is nothing better in life than love! Life isn’t all that great without someone to share the milestones with. Money comes and goes, but some of the best memories are made just “figuring it out.”

How has your songwriting evolved since your time on The Voice? Do you feel more confident sharing personal stories now?

Definitely! I have grown so much as a person and experienced so many more life events overall. I was 17 on the show, and now being 22, I know what I want to say! I feel like I am able to create music that is more true and honest to myself as I have grown more confident in my identity!

Lastly, what does being “rich” mean to you today, beyond the song?

It means living each day to the fullest, chasing dreams, and having the ones you love around you while you do it!

You’ve been described as someone who sings with soul and honesty. How important is vulnerability in your music?

In my opinion, why even put out a song if it isn’t true to you in some way? Songwriting is storytelling. People relate when you believe what you are singing.

“Rich” was recently added to the Women of Country Spotify playlist. How does it feel to have that recognition and support?

Women supporting women is so crucial in this industry! I will forever be grateful for platforms like theirs that wrap their arms around us!

You’ve built a loyal fanbase on Instagram and TikTok—how do you use social media to stay connected with your listeners?

Social media was not always easy for me, but I’ve grown to love sharing even the smallest things that happen throughout my day. It is like a friendship; the more you share, the closer you get. Things that I would think no one cares about—they do! We are all just the same!

If you could go back and play a song for your younger self, which one would it be and why?

Don’t Blink… Kenny Chesney. I wanted to grow up so fast. The older you get, the more time flies and you can’t get it back.

What advice would you give to your younger self, and why?

Don’t let the “No’s” get you down. It just means a way better “Yes” is around the corner.

How would your best friend describe you?

Outgoing, Funny, Thoughtful, and an Overthinker LOL

If you were a book, what would be the title of the book, and why?

Boujee Boot Country… And it would dive into my obsession with shoes… HAHA. It would take a novel to list out every pair of boots that I have.

I have a TON of new music to release! I have a music video coming out, and I am hitting the road for several shows. I can’t wait for everyone to hear the songs we have been working on!

And your favorite cheat food?

A good ole cheeseburger!

How would you describe your fashion style?

Edgy and vibrant! Seems contradictory, but I love the dramatic eye makeup, extensions, tall studded boots in every color, and leather thrown into the mix. I may wear a pink leather dress or a black leather skirt with a blue eye look. Fun and sassy.

What is your definition of happiness?

Being surrounded with the people I love, belly laughing, and making memories

And which countries or cities are still on your bucket list?

Bora Bora, Italy, and South Africa!!

If you could have coffee with any historical figure to discuss current events, who would it be and why?

Jesus! There wouldn’t be anyone better to chat with. I’d want an inside scoop on what all may happen next haha!

Best advice ever given?

Stay true to yourself and lean on Jesus… It has never failed me!

Do you support any charities?

Growing up, my mom was really big into volunteering! We supported St. Jude’s, Folds of Honor, and many other organizations! My dream is to be able to start one of my own.

Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years?

I hope to be filling arenas, or bigger venues if possible! But I also hope to have grown in every aspect of my craft and to be surrounded by an amazing group of industry folks who support me.

What is your favorite song to belt out in the car or for karaoke?

White Horse by Chris Stapleton.
